Igor Graves was born on the north-eastern border of Chicago in 1983 and lived in that general area for 20 years. The area was hostile around that time and everyone had to be alert. This inspired Igor to try to carve a path for himself where he didn't have to stay in one place for too long. Like many other people that came before him, his interest in music was sparked by the way people sang together in church. During grade school, student assemblies often consisted of musicians representing a far off land or a stage production saturated with song and dance and this led him to join the school choir when he was old enough. This gave Igor an idea of what it was like to perform for an audience. In high school, he sang in heavy metal bands and took a guitar course for beginners which lasted one semester. Soon after, he bought a bass and taught himself how to play. The bass became his primary instrument and still is to this day. It was 6 years later, around 2006, when he started playing the guitar again. From 2000 through 2009, he was playing bass for a heavy metal band from Chicago called Shred which changed the name to Hexah somewhere in between. This band played around north-east Illinois and got to open for well known Spanish speaking metal bands such as Brujeria (without him, though), Rata Blanca, Leprosy, and Tierra Santa, along with Chicago's own Alebrije and Asalto Rebelde, During 2008, Igor wrote his first set of songs without his band to back him up and in 2009, he began to play some of the bars around the city without an accompanist, eventually becoming a street musician. At the very end of 2009, Igor relocated to Houston,TX., to see what he could find while writing and recording songs on his own along the way.
