Hailing from the mountain city of Flagstaff, Arizona, Tequila Soul is a band looking to bend the sound of the acoustic genre. Members Matt Pahler and Alex Salce began writing music together about a year ago, and have since been exploring the facets of their sound.
In their first EP album release, "Long Night," Tequila Soul paints a picture of youthful indiscretion, sexual inhibitions, and a multitude of other sinful tales- yet somehow keeps the same humanity and emotional grit that audiences have come to know and love from the acoustic genre. Vivid imagery of these stories are told over the contrasts between organic and electric- two acoustic guitars strum spanish-style chord movements and riffs over a low, thumping bass, while electronic drums take the stage with production qualities similar to R&B and Hip-Hop. The final product slates the music into a blurred line between spanish-acoustic, rock, and soul.
